A new architectural language<\/h3>\n

Mosantine, the new collection of modular elements in wood essences designed by Elisa Ossino, expand the concept of the door, transforming it into an architectural system capable of engaging in dialogue with the entire space.

If Mappa Mundi was born from the idea of the threshold as a place of passage and meaning, The Mosantine extend that reflection to the surface, envisioning it as a space to be built through rhythm, material and light, able to transform throughout the day through the interplay of relief, reflections and shadow.

Made as pure-wood tesserae, The Mosantine introduce a new compositional element in constant dialogue with doors, walls, wooden boiserie and furnishings, creating a material continuity that redefines the perception of space.

“With The Mosantine, I sought to transform walls into sculptural surfaces. The repetition of a single module generates a three-dimensional skin that light continuously animates, making the material feel alive and ever-changing. The door merges with the wall into a single presence, becoming part of the architecture itself.”<\/em><\/strong>

Matter, surface, opening<\/h3>\n

The collection is born from a contemporary reinterpretation of the great mosaic tradition of the Adriatic, and in particular from the culture of Roman and Byzantine mosaic that has deeply marked the Romagna territory.

The wood essence introduces a natural, unrepeatable variation into the geometric rigour of the module. The grain makes each Tessera unique: the pattern repeats, but never in the same way twice. Warm and tactile, the material conveys a sensory quality that light amplifies, bringing out different reflections, contrasts of light and shadow, and depths throughout the day. The wall thus appears alive, as though crossed by a continuous perceptual movement.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n

Wooden Boiserie: a tailored surface<\/h3>\n

The language of The Mosantine extends beyond the door, taking shape as a made-to-measure wooden boiserie system. Door and wall align in a single, flush layout of high craftsmanship.

The result is an architectural continuity in which the opening is no longer an isolated element, but an integral part of the wall’s design.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n

Ariminum Line<\/h3>\n

The first two doors clad with The Mosantine belong to the Ariminum line of Mappa Mundi and interpret two different geometries.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n

Arena<\/h3>\n

Arena, featuring Mosantina Tonda, evokes the Roman Amphitheatre of Rimini and the monumentality of its form. The circular composition introduces a fluid rhythm, able to welcome light gently and give the surface a continuous sense of movement.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n

Insula<\/h3>\n

Insula, instead, uses Mosantina Quadra and draws inspiration from the city blocks that organised the urban fabric of ancient Ariminum according to an orthogonal layout. The regular sequence builds a more rigorous pattern, where order and repetition become tools of balance and visual continuity.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n

With The Mosantine, the surface becomes a continuous element, able to overcome the distinction between door and wall. Elisa Ossino<\/h3>\n

A Sicilian architect and designer, Elisa Ossino trained at the Politecnico di Milano and in 2006 founded Elisa Ossino Studio, working across interior design, product design, exhibitions, and creative direction. Her research weaves together geometric abstraction, monochromes, and metaphysical and surrealist references, creating projects distinguished by lightness, essentiality, and a strong sense of scenography.
Over the course of her career, she has received prestigious national and international awards, including the Red Dot Award Best of the Best, the Honourable Mention at the Compasso d\u2019Oro ADI, the iF Design Award, and the Edida Award. Listed several times among the AD100 of Architectural Digest, in 2021 she was named Designer of the Year by Elle Decor Japan.<\/p>\n\n \n \n <\/div><\/div>\n
