Automation and Technology 4.0 the strengths of an interconnected factory

In a continuously changing economic scenario, Scrigno welcomes the change and adopts a new system for automatic packaging, which can guarantee even greater robustness of the packaging and protection of the subframes. The investment belongs to a broader intervention plan, launched in 2017, aimed at reorganising processes in order to reduce the manufacturing cycle time and triple the production capacity. The installation took place at the end of August at the Scrigno2 plant in Savignano sul Rubicone. It will allow the automation of the production process steps through robotic, digital and interconnected solutions, from a 4.0 perspective, thus effectively reducing lead time.

The new packaging plant covers an area of 2,500 m2 and is directly controlled by the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) which monitors the entire production cycle in real time. It consists of robotic devices, including anthropomorphic ones, and an automatic transfer system for subframes; it also guarantees an improvement in the quality standards of packaging, both with regard to the box and the closure system, and palletisation.

Scrigno’s hi-tech breakthrough of the last three years is thus confirmed, always keeping an eye on the market and pursuing a development strategy that, in addition to enhancing the brand, aims at the operational efficiency of its industrial hubs from a Lean perspective.
