A new vision of the threshold
At Scrigno, we believe that space is not just a dimension to be filled, but a living resource to be shaped and reinvented. The Mappa Mundi collection, designed by Elisa Ossino, is born from a powerful idea: to restore the door to its original meaning as a threshold—conceived not only as a passage but as a symbolic space, capable of connecting, separating, and transforming.
The threshold becomes ritual, change, passage. An architectural surface that converses with memory, light, and matter, integrating seamlessly into interiors while retaining its own aesthetic and sensorial identity.
The name is inspired by the Ravenna Cosmography, an ancient 7th-century map of the world, which testifies to the interweaving of civilizations, territories, and visions. Likewise, Mappa Mundi is a cultural and design narrative that unites historical roots with contemporary experimentation.
“MAPPA MUNDI was inspired by the desire to shape the doorway as a cultural, symbolic, and meaningful space — a boundary that becomes a place of significance” — Elisa Ossino

Material, color, research
The collection is the result of meticulous work on materials, geometries, and textures. Every surface becomes a narrative, every detail transforms space into an emotional experience.
The protagonist is CIMENTO®, an innovative material introduced for the first time in the world of doors, presented in smooth, sandblasted, and ribbed textures. Alongside it, wood, lacquered finishes, and glass create a palette of material solutions that amplify the sensory character of the collection.
The color range is inspired by the poetic universe of Luigi Ghirri, master of light and color. Desaturated tones, soft earths, and diluted blues create sophisticated nuances, evoking suspended atmospheres, engaging in dialogue with architecture, or generating refined contrasts.

Ariminum represents the indissoluble bond with roots and with the territory.
Borghi
Borghi tells the story of the uniqueness of a material that becomes the new benchmark.

Litora
Litora plays with the transparencies of glass, like the sea water that soothes and embraces those who gaze at it.
Pentapoli
Pentapoli is a tribute to the balance between past and present, to the elegance of the ancient city, reinterpreted in a contemporary key.
Mappa Mundi is not just a collection of doors, but a cultural and architectural project that blends memory, matter, and innovation. It is an invitation to experience space as an emotional journey, where the threshold becomes narration, boundary, and opening towards new horizons of living.
